The crossing at a glance

Denarau - Blue Lagoon Beach Resort is the long run of the Yasawa service. The daily boat - the Yasawa Flyer, a high-speed catamaran - leaves Port Denarau at 08:45, threads north through the island chain and reaches the Blue Lagoon area after about 4 hours 30 minutes, its northernmost call before turning back south. One rotation a day, in each direction: this route rewards planning and punishes lateness.

Port Denarau and check-in

Port Denarau marina, where the Yasawa boat leaves every morning at 08:45.
Port Denarau marina, where the Yasawa boat leaves every morning at 08:45.

Check-in is at the South Sea Cruises desk at Port Denarau Terminal, 30 minutes before the 08:45 departure. If you land in Nadi the same morning, be honest about the timing: the operator's airport coach connects to the boat, but a delayed overnight flight has no second chance that day. Staying the night before in Nadi or Denarau and booking the coach pickup at least 24 hours ahead is the calm version of this connection.

The journey north

The ride is half the experience. After leaving the Denarau marina the boat crosses to the southern Yasawas and then works stop by stop up the chain - Barefoot Kuata, Wayalailai, Octopus, Manta Ray, Paradise Cove, the Nanuya area - with tenders shuttling guests at each call. On board there is indoor seating, open deck space and a kiosk; the hours pass with the islands sliding by. Luggage is stowed for the crossing and comes out at your stop.

Arrival and the tender hand-off

At Blue Lagoon the ferry is met offshore: the tender takes you and your bags the last stretch to the beach, and the operator warns that feet can get wet. Keep documents, phones and cameras in a day pack, and let your resort know your arrival leg - the tender timing is built around the boat's daily call.

The return leg

Southbound, the boat passes Blue Lagoon in the early afternoon and arrives back at Port Denarau around 18:00. Book the return with the outward leg if your dates are fixed, and leave a buffer before any onward flight - same-evening connections out of Nadi are tighter than they look. The current southbound times for your date are in the timetable.

Tickets and changes

Fares are dynamic, shown live on this page and in the price overview; the binding amount appears in the booking step, including the operator's current mandatory fuel surcharge. Rebooking and cancellation follow your ticket conditions. If your plans span several islands, note that each leg between stops is its own connection with its own ticket.

Denarau - Blue Lagoon

Across the Yasawas to Blue Lagoon

Denarau - Blue Lagoon Beach Resort is the long leg of the Yasawa service: the daily boat leaves Port Denarau in the morning, works its way north past the southern and central Yasawa stops and reaches the Blue Lagoon area as its northern turning point.

That geography sets the rules. There is one chance a day in each direction, the ride is measured in hours rather than minutes, and arrival runs by tender - a small boat meets the ferry off the resort. Treat it as a scenic half-day at sea, not a quick shuttle.

FAQ Denarau - Blue Lagoon

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Denarau - Blue Lagoon crossing.

How long is the ferry ride to Blue Lagoon?+

About 4 hours 30 minutes northbound. The return leg differs - the boat leaves the Blue Lagoon area in the early afternoon and works south through the chain, arriving back at Port Denarau around 18:00. Exact times for your date are in the timetable.

How often does the boat run?+

One departure per day in each direction. The northbound boat leaves Port Denarau at 08:45, so plan your arrival in Nadi the evening before or take an early airport coach - check-in at the terminal desk closes 30 minutes before departure, and a missed boat means a missed day.

How do I get from the boat to the resort?+

Blue Lagoon has no ferry jetty for this service: the boat holds position and the resort tender brings passengers and luggage ashore. The operator warns that you may get your feet wet, so keep electronics and documents in a carry bag and pack soft luggage where you can.

Can I book the return to Denarau too?+

Yes. The southbound leg is booked like the outward one and follows the same daily rhythm - one pass per stop, arriving at Port Denarau around 18:00. Do not book a same-evening onward flight tightly against it; recheck your return departure a day ahead.

Does the same boat serve the other Yasawa resorts?+

The stops along the way - Barefoot Kuata, Wayalailai, Octopus, Manta Ray, Paradise Cove and the Nanuya area among them - are separate connections in the booking feed with their own tickets. Book the leg to your actual resort stop; the fare reflects how far north you travel.
